Originally by: CCP Soundwave Hey guys
My team worked on the first implementation and we're happy with the groundwork we put down. I think it's a nifty little feature and gives people another source of income that's relatively easy to manage and lets small time production people become somewhat self sufficient.
I don't want to sound disrespectful, Soundwave, but if you actually believe what you just wrote, then it would appear your standards are incredibly low compared to what most gamers expect of EVE Online.
I was almost happier when the devs weren't communicating with us as much on the forums, because the more you guys post, the most alarmed I am about where this game may be headed.
Originally by: CCP Soundwave As stated by another poster, we are dedicated to improving planetary interaction. Our sister team is working on another iteration for the coming release, so you should see improvements as early as this winter. The benefit for us of doing subsequent releases of PI, is that we can do improvements not just based on our own thoughts, but based on your feedback. Keep it coming, we're reading :)
Okay, here's some feedback: The entire initial foundation of PI is so poorly conceived and executed that it's difficult to see how it can be turned into a great feature. It would be like building on to a house that has a rotten foundation.
The interface is terrible, it barely pays enough to even be worth the investment in time, and I don't know if I've ever run across a more repetitive, less engaging, and boring clickfest in any major MMO. Again, it's not my intention to sound confrontational here, but I for one am shocked something this amateur made it into EVE Online. Most free Internet Flash games are better than this!
I absolutely support the concept of PI as I think there is huge potential in the idea of exploiting and fighting over planetary resources. But I must admit I was deeply surprised at just how bad this particular vision of PI turned out to be. Sorry, but I'm betting you're going to have a very difficult time turning this into something EVE players really like without some very, very significant changes to the overall structure of the feature. |
